Soprano Catalina Cuervo and Nathalie Doucet, Head of Music, perform “Death Dances ’round My Bed” in Detroit’s historic Rivera Court, where Kahlo’s husband Diego Rivera painted his enormous “Detroit Industry” murals in 1933. The Opera Frida by Robert Xavier Rodriguez was presented at the Detroit Music Hall Centre for the Performing Arts.
Performed excerpts from Pulitzer Prize winning composer Anthony Davis and Librettist Thulani Davis X-The Life and Times of Malcolm X at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Appointment as Head of Music at Detroit’s Michigan Opera Theatre – Detroit Opera House! This is a new position for MOT that will work closely with Christine Goerke, Suzanne Acton, and the future Music Director of the Opera House (to be announced). I will also assist in the creation of a Resident Artist Training Program for Michigan Opera Theatre in the coming months, which I am particularly excited about! With Wayne Brown (CEO), Yuval Sharon (Artistic Director), and Christine Goerke (Associate Artistic Director) at the helm, and my many new esteemed colleagues at MOT, it is clear that the company is experiencing a very exciting time. I am eager to join this team’s commitment to producing operatic performances and cultural enrichment programs at the highest level for diverse audiences and communities. Returning to the United States in this opera house gives me immense joy, and I look forward to collaborating with my inspired and gifted new colleagues.

On December 6th, Nathalie Doucet will be performing with Mezzo-Soprano Adanya Dunn, Baritone Rolfe Dauz at Het Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam in a recital and livestream organized by the Jonge Grote Zangers. An exciting prigran including Mozart, Massenet, Duparc, Vaughan-Williams, Bolcom and more presented twice at 11:00 (with livestream) and 13:00.

Guest Teacher at Memorial University
Nathalie Doucet was invited by Caroline Schiller, Professor of Voice and Opera at Memorial University to be a guest speaker for their voice students. This two-part lecture was on the German Fach system. I was an intense and rewarding experience!

October 7th, 2020-Nathalie Doucet will be giving an (online) masterclass for Arizona State University School of Music, Dance and Theater.
Invited by Professor Robert Mills, who is the vocal coach/accompanist for Arizona State University’s Lyric Opera Theater, Nathalie Doucet will be working with students of the opera program on October 7th, 2020.
